At the end of 2009, an estimated 1,148,200 persons aged 13 and older were living with HIV infection in the United States, including 207,600 (18.1%) persons whose infections had not been diagnosed, and globally an estimated 34 million people have HIV. More than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007 have died from the virus, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
December 1st is know as World AIDS Day around the world. Government and health officials observe the day, often with speeches or forums on the AIDS topics. Since 1995, the President of the United States has made an official proclamation on World AIDS Day. Governments of other nations have followed suit and issued similar announcements. Corporations around the world, Private enterprises, and Charities observe the day.
This is a pandemic that has affected people from all walks of life and ages and many don't even know they have it. This virus is not selective to a certain race or lifestyle as some may believe. It can attack anyone no matter what path you on. A major key is prevention and education.
This year FHR Radio has been asked by Unified Hearts to help support the efforts in HIV/Aids Education and Prevention through the "Youth in Search for A Cure Concert". This event was originally scheduled for Dec 1st in Central Florida however many great things have been happening in the background and has gotten the attention of many people, organizations, corporations, national media, etc which will give Unified Hearts and Youth Ambassador of the Event Ronan Parke the opportunity to expand on that mission and create even bigger and better opportunities. The USA Concert is schedule for April 13, 2014
